Exuberant rallies and tedious conferences to make a better world. Will you talk social theory with me late into the night? Until spring '06 I was among the sleeping masses, paralyzed by rhetoric. Lakoff's "elephant" book began to dispel my fog. Now I no longer watch corporate news media -- just Alternet, Colbert, BookTV, and the like. Orwell's "1984" explains my "Make Love Not War" bumper sticker, and maybe the other stickers too. I've become a zealot for Waldman's "we're all in this together." I'm helping to spread the word in any way I can - web pages, emails, phone calls, door to door. It feels great to be part of a caring community. I have hope but not faith: the outcome of the great struggle is not inevitable. So we're all needed. But I'm not stressed out -- I'm enjoying my Zen strawberries, and my Powdermilk Biscuits get lots of ketchup. I like strange new ideas - e.g., Kurzweil and the Mayan calendar are close in predictions of when The Current Age will end. I was encouraged by "The Lord of the Rings": good triumphs not through greater weaponry but because evil is blinded and disunited by its greed. My soulmate needn't be my clone, needn't attend the same meetings - we can build different parts of the vision. Just share my undisneyfied reality for a while.I want conversation, sometimes silly, sometimes serious - what are you reading, thinking, feeling? And I listen, too, though you wouldn't guess it from this longwinded profile. I may seem a tiger online, but in person I'm still too unassuming to ask a stranger for a date (hence this ad).
